Fortified Rice

About US

Fortified Rice

Fortification is the addition of key vitamins and minerals such as Iron, Iodine, Zinc, Vitamins A & D to rice to improve their nutritional content.

What are the Benefits of Fortified Rice ?

  • Nutrients are added to rice since they are widely consumed. Thus, this is an excellent method to improve the health of a large section of the population, all at once.

  • Fortification does not change the appearance, aroma, taste or cooking behaviour of the rice, so households need not alter a single habit to benefit from it.

  • It is one of the most cost-effective public health interventions available, adding only a marginal cost per tonne while addressing widespread micronutrient deficiency.
